In the past 70 years, three generations of police officers in the Yang family have dedicated their youth and even their lives to the protection of people's safety  and property.

In 1949, Chongqing was liberated and the PRC was founded. Yang Bangxin, an 18-year-old apprentice, learned of the recruitment plan of the local public security bureau. He joined the police squad to serve the people, thus becoming the first generation of police officers in the PRC. Back in those days, Yang Bangxin, constrained by limited resources, had to walk from door to door to investigate and collect census information, and he even ran 30 kilometers just to catch a thief. Despite such difficulties, he said he had never seen his work as drudgery because it allowed him to serve the people.

On the evening of July 31st, 1990, Zhao Jia, a policeman from Yuzhong District, just got home from a work trip. But he left again to fill in for his colleague on patrol. His wife Yang Li had no idea they would soon be parted by death. The 33-year-old policeman died in a car accident during the patrol, leaving his beloved wife and son behind forever. After 28-year-old Yang Li learned the news, she locked herself up in her home for a long time. She did not know what there was to live for. But then she thought through the fact that when one decided to be a police officer, they were ready to make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. So she managed to pull herself together and returned to the police force. With the help of her father, she brought her son up.

Yang Ziyi graduated from the police academy in 2008 and became a policeman in the same year. As someone who grew up listening to his father’s stories, Yang Ziyi always wanted to be a man like his father. He was transferred to the Legal Affairs Division after several years working as a frontline officer. There has been significant improvement in China’s laws and regulations since the founding of the PRC. To keep up with the latest developments, Yang Ziyi reads files and looks up relevant laws and regulations on a daily basis, so that every case will be handled in a fair and impartial  manner and the legitimate rights and interests of those involved will be guaranteed. According to his mother Yang Li, Yang Ziyi has inherited his father’s integrity and prudence. His father would be so proud of the man his son has grown into.
